Joe Lemire Named South Council President

Effective January 1st 2008, Joe Lemire was installed as the President of the South Council for the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce. Joe will serve a one year term.

The South Council comprises of 290 members that meet on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month to Network, promote their business, and have a good time in a relaxed, yet professional environment. For more information, visit www.southcouncil.org.

Newsletters are often considered an extension of a business’s website. They broaden the reach of their site’s information for the ultimate goal of increasing traffic. Most follow the general rules of newsletters: provide an opportunity for visitors to sign up, launch newsletters consistently, and provide informative and attractive content.
Many people fail to develop their newsletters beyond this. In all businesses, improvement is the name of the game. It is important to remember to improve your newsletter list to increase traffic. With that said, we offer three tips to do so.

Allow site wide access to sign up for your newsletter. Many business’s shorthand their newsletter activity by only giving visitors the chance to signup for their newsletter in one location. By spreading the visibility of the newsletter signup across several other pages, you increase the chance a visitor will sign up.
Give the opportunity to sign up to your customers, not just visitors. It is common for customers to bypass the newsletter sign up before or after making a purchase. Give these customers the opportunity to sign up in a post-purchase email or on a paper-memo included in the product’s delivery. Chances are someone who has committed a purchase for a business’s product or service would be willing to receive future emails from that business.
Offer signing up for your newsletter outside the box. How many people do you talk to about your website? If they seem interested, offer to take their email address to send them your newsletter. This can also be applied when you give presentations about your business. The last minute of a presentation is prime information, so include an offer to sign up.
